Our financial confidence coaching

What is financial confidence coaching? Leading a small charity means making financial decisions every day, often without the budget for professional finance expertise. All leaders will, at times, need somewhere confidential to ask questions, test thinking and make sense of what’s going on. Our finance coaching gives you that space.

Why bother? Working with an experienced charity finance specialist allows you to step away from the day-to-day and take a fresh look at your charity’s finances. We act as a critical friend and peer reviewer: asking useful questions, helping you explore what the numbers are telling you and giving you greater confidence in your own decisions.

How does it work? We use our own framework to explore the three interconnected elements of financially leading a small charity:

  1. Financial governance Are the right oversight, responsibilities and conversations in place? How well do trustees and leaders understand the charity’s financial position and their respective roles?
  2. Financial management Do your budgets, management information and financial processes give you what you need to run the charity and make good decisions?
  3. Financial resilience How prepared is your charity for uncertainty and change? Do you understand your risks, reserves, income and financial outlook well enough to plan confidently for the future?

Together, these give us a practical way to explore not just what the numbers say, but how confidently you are using them to lead your organisation.

What can we talk about? You can use your coaching session in the way that is most useful to you. We can work through the framework as a general financial health check, helping you identify what feels strong, what might need attention and where you want to focus next. Or we can deep dive into a particular issue that is keeping you awake, creating uncertainty or simply needs another pair of experienced eyes. You don’t need to arrive with everything neatly packaged or even know exactly what the problem is. Come with your questions. We’ll explore them together.

What does it not include? Financial confidence coaching is not an audit and it isn’t financial advice. We won’t tell you what decision to make. Instead, we provide a confidential, non-judgemental peer-review space where you can challenge assumptions, explore options and strengthen your own understanding and judgement.

For us, the aim is simple. Our sessions are designed so that you get clarity, feel grounded and leave with greater financial confidence.
