Effective Financial Management; An Introduction

We will explore these three questions:
1. Are we financially compliant?
2. Are we financially solvent?
3. Are we financially resilient?
We will look at the financial records that we need to keep, the key numbers we need to track, and what it means to build longer-term financial resilience during change and uncertainty.
By the end of the session, you will leave with:
1. An overview of how to get good financial records to build compliance
2. An introduction to three financial reports:
- actual v budget report
- balance sheet
- cashflow forecast
3. An introduction to how to lead a financially resilient social purpose organisation
This session is suitable for micro and smaller charities, CICs and start up organisations. This is a back to first principles session. No knowledge is assumed. We will use plain English as much as we can and explain all jargon when used. We will explore the wonderful world of finance and how spreadsheets help make social change happen.
